Civil and commercial litigation and arbitration
I act for businesses and private clients in court and in arbitration, from the initial assessment to the enforcement of the decision, in Milan and before courts throughout Italy.
Last updated:
What I do
- Civil and commercial cases
- At first instance and on appeal, for the performance of contracts, compensation for damage and the protection of one’s rights.
- Interim and urgent proceedings
- Attachment orders and urgent measures when harmful conduct must be stopped at once or assets and evidence must be secured.
- Arbitration
- Arbitration, including the Italian forms known as arbitrato rituale and arbitrato irrituale, and institutional proceedings, from the appointment of arbitrators to the award and any challenge.
- Technical assessments and expert reports
- Pre-trial expert assessment (accertamento tecnico preventivo) and expert reports, coordinating court-appointed and party-appointed experts.
- Mediation and assisted negotiation
- Alternatives to court proceedings, approached as a genuine strategic phase rather than a formality.
- Enforcement of decisions
- Enforcement of judgments and arbitral awards, including where assets are located abroad, involving local lawyers when necessary.
My approach
Before acting, I frankly assess the prospects, timing, costs and the effect on the relationship with the other party. Not every dispute requires litigation: often the most useful solution is a settlement built from a solid position.

How long does a civil case last?
The duration depends on the dispute, the evidence required and the court. After an initial review, I provide an estimate of the timescale and assess the scope for settlement. If immediate protection is needed, I consider whether the requirements for interim relief are met.
Is arbitration or a court case preferable?
If the contract contains an arbitration clause, I check its validity and whether it applies to the dispute. Without a clause, arbitration requires an agreement between the parties. I assess the timing, costs, confidentiality and procedural features to identify the most suitable approach.
I have been served with a writ of summons: what should I do?
Contact a lawyer promptly: some defences must be raised before the hearing. In the first message it is enough to identify the parties and state the date of service and the hearing date, highlighting the urgency. I will explain how to send the document so that the applicable deadlines can be checked.
