How I work

First contact, engagement and fees: how I work and answers to the most frequent questions.

From first contact to engagement

The first contact serves to understand the matter and assess whether I can assist.

  1. A brief description of the matter

With the names of the parties involved and any deadlines. Documents should be sent following the practice’s instructions.

  2. Initial meeting

Once I have checked that there is no conflict of interest, we arrange a meeting to examine the matter and the possible steps.

  3. A clear estimate

Before you engage me, I provide a written estimate setting out the planned work, fees and anticipated expenses.

Analysis, strategy and management of the matter.

  1. Understanding the objectives

The law is a tool. Strategy starts from the real objectives, the business context and the people involved.

  2. Assessing risks and alternatives

I examine the strengths of the position, the risks and the likely costs and timescales, also considering alternatives to litigation.

  3. Defining the strategy

I assess the steps to be taken in light of the client’s objectives, the value of the matter and the costs.

  4. Following every stage

I personally handle the matter and maintain direct contact with the client at every stage.

Fees

Clear costs before starting

Before you engage me, I provide a written estimate setting out the planned work, fees and anticipated expenses.

Fees may be agreed by stage, as a fixed fee or on an hourly basis, depending on the work required. The terms are agreed before the engagement.

Frequently asked questions

Do you act only for businesses or also for private clients?

Both. I act for companies and business owners, and also for private clients, for example in property, lease, debt recovery or contractual disputes.

How does the first contact work?

The first contact can be made by email, by phone or on WhatsApp, with a brief description of the matter, the names of the parties involved and any deadlines. Once I have checked that there is no conflict of interest, we arrange a meeting to examine the matter and the possible steps.

How are fees agreed?

Before you engage me, I provide a written estimate setting out the planned work, fees and anticipated expenses.

Does sending an email mean instructing a lawyer?

No. Sending a message does not establish a lawyer–client relationship. An engagement requires an express agreement with the practice.

Do you also handle matters with international aspects?

Yes. I handle disputes and transactions with international aspects, coordinating, when necessary, lawyers in the jurisdictions concerned and technical consultants.
